About Me
I've been taking photographs
for many years, and am continually updating my skills
and knowledge. Over time I've developed a style and method, which makes
it possible to take the sort of photographs which inspire me
and hopefully others too.

Training
Over the years, I've done
numerous courses and workshops in various
photographic techniques like portraiture, wedding photographyand
photoshop. I'll continue with this as long as I'm
taking photographs - there's always something new to learn.
Like
most
people, I believe that the most important factor in the taking of a
good photograph
is the person behind the camera and their skills - not just the
equipment itself.

Photography
Business
My main
areas of interest are :
Weddings - with a bias towards the 'photojournalistic' style.
Commercial - covering a broad
gamut, from staff photos to architecture to product photography Portraiture
- using both natural and studio lighting.
Food
& Wine - everything from sausages to sushi
via Sancerre
I have the necessary professional
insurance - often required to work in locations like hotels
and heritage properties.

Wine
I
am also a member of a wine enthusiasts club, completed the
WSET
Wine Diploma a couple of years ago, and teach some wine appreciation
courses. You can see some recent photos in the latest
Wicklow Wine Company newsletter. The
club visits a different wine-producing region each year. Since I first
joined, we have visited Germany, the Rhone Valley, Northern Italy and
Burgundy. Next year will be Portugal. Photos of these visits can be
found here. |
Home
Currently,
I live in the Dublin area (Dun Laoghaire, by the sea) but
originally I come from Trim
in Co. Meath. You can find some of my
photos from there on this site, and the other sites referenced on the
'Links' page.
You can also see some of my photos of Dun
Laoghaire and its Festival of World Cultures together with
various other Irish events. |
The Rest
For
those
who are interested, I use professional Canon digital
SLR
camera equipment, and Bowens lighting. Backups are via the innovative Amazon
S3 service.
Originally,
I started with film and slide photography, but have now switched
completely to digital imaging.
